Our inspiring journey
I began working in care over six years ago as a single parent, searching for a role that would fit around my family life. What I found instead was a career that gave me a true sense of purpose.
Coming from a background in customer service and office-based roles, stepping into care was completely new to me. But from the moment I met my first client, Gwyneth, I realised this work was about far more than practical support. It was about dignity, trust and genuine human connection.
Over the years, I built meaningful relationships with many wonderful clients and their families. Being trusted to support someone in their own home is a privilege I have always taken seriously. At the same time, I saw how often carers are undervalued despite the
compassion, patience and emotional strength the role requires.
I knew there had to be a better way and founded Golden Companion to offer something different — a companionship service rooted in respect, fairness and heartfelt connection. Elderly people deserve to feel seen, heard and truly valued, and companions deserve recognition and a true living wage for the important work they do.
I founded Golden Companion to ensure that both are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
